Captain's Charity Donation

Our current Captain, Dave Paul, only has a few weeks left in his position before he hands over to his vice, Dave Groom, for the 23/24 season.

When the Captain first took office, he made it a goal to use his influence to make a donation to Cancer Research UK. With help such as this, cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK. Right now, 2 in 4 people will survive their cancer for 10 years or more. Their ambition is to accelerate progress so that by 2034, 3 in 4 people will survive their cancer for 10 years or more

Throughout the year, these donations have kindly come from members, guests, match opponents and many more and together we have raised an astonishing £1525 to go towards this great cause!

Royal Wimbledon Match Report

On the 4th November, 10 LSGC members played Royal Wimbledon Golf Club in our annual match. This is played in singles and every match is played to its conclusion in this interesting format - if you are 4 down with 3 to play, there is still the opportunity to win the last few holes and finish 1 down.

Well done to the Captain, Dave Paul; Calum Bavin; Jim Boyes; Les Hodges; Jason Costain; Tommy Tighe; Chris Bunning; Charles Atlee; Jamie McConnachie and Arthur Stoddart for coming out on top with a score of 17-12. The score was 9-12 with two matches to go, but LSGC came in with 5 up and 3 up to seal the victory!

The trophy will be held at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club, in their impressive dining room, so make sure you take a look if you get a chance to visit!
